#FieldTripFriday: This week, we visited cyberspace. From hashtags to blog posts, Reading School District is active on seven social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Weebly. It’s one of the best ways to engage students, staff, parents, alumni and the Greater Reading community. Dr. Mumin is one of the few Berks County superintendents to have a Twitter account, and thanks to all of you, the district won a national award last year for its Facebook page. Plus, our amazing Class President Elise Jackson oversees a Red Knight Pride Instagram account that showcases the positives happening at RHS. We are also in the process of revamping and updating all of our websites, including the district website and individual websites for each of our 19 schools. We’ve even added new pop-up alerts on our websites to share important news and information. (Visit www.ReadingSD.org right now, and you’ll see our first pop-up alert!) #RSDproud
#FieldTripFriday: This week, we visited the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harriburg with students from the Knight Vision (formerly Community Knights) club at Reading High School. It was a cool experience for a bunch of city slickers. We saw butter, bees and butterflies, plus animals, tractors and science fair projects. And, yes, the farm show milkshakes were amazing! #RSDproud
#FieldTripFriday: This week, we visited "Fun Friday" in Mr. Chappelear's 1st grade classroom at 10th and Green Elementary. During the 30-minute Fun Friday session, students work at interactive stations, where they learn through play. Stations include Play-Doh, LEGOs, K'NEX, building blocks, dancing to videos on the smart board, drawing and computers. There's also a table to catch up on missed work and a teaching station, where students teach lessons to their classmates. (We learned math problems today ... 1,000 + 1,000 = 2,000!) Many teachers throughout the district hold similar activities, and the kids love it! Take a look! Plus: You can follow Mr. Chappelear on Twitter: https://twitter.com/freshinfirst #RSDproud
