The Reading School District has your weekend plans covered with two exciting events that will benefit area students and the Greater Reading community.
Zumbathon on Friday, March 13
Alex Brown, principal of Reading Intermediate High School, is participating in the Yocum Institute's 2015 Dancing with the Reading Stars program. To support his fundraising effort, he and his dance partner, Lisa Houck, will host a Zumbathon at Reading Intermediate High School from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 13.
Students, staff and community members are invited to attend the event. Cost is $5 for students and $10 for adults. All money raised supports the Yocum Institute, which provides educational and arts programming for Berks County youth, including those attending Reading School District.

The 5th annual Red Knight Music Association Benefit Concert will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 15 at RACC’s Miller Center.
The concert is a showcase that features performances by local artists and 30 Reading School District music staff and alumni. Performances include “What a Dream,” “It Had to Be You” and “Harlem Nocturne.” This year’s popular Teachers Chorus, conducted by music teacher Alexandra Booth, will perform “For Good” from the Broadway musical “Wicked.”
A suggested donation of $10 will be accepted at the door. All money raised benefits college scholarships for Reading High School music students. If you are unable to attend the event but would like to donate to the Red Knight Music Association scholarship fund, contributions can also be made by contacting Joe Smith, RHS music teacher, at [email protected].
