The RHS Boys Basketball Team won the Reading Holiday Basketball Tournament last night. Khary Mauras was named tournament MVP, and Lonnie Walker and Keyon McCutchen were named to the all-tournament team.
Congrats to Reading High freshman Caleb Eberly, who was named to the Reading Eagle's Scholastic Honor Roll for Boys Swimming this week. Caleb won the 200 IM, 500 free and swam on the winning 200 medley and 400 free relays in a 116-67 non-league win over Hazleton Tuesday.#RSDproud We love stories like this! Sherry Mowery is a 1st grade teacher at Northwest Area Elementary School. Her mom, Rose Cooper, is retired and volunteers in her classroom weekly to read with students. This year for Christmas, Ms. Cooper made all of the students a hat and a pair of mittens. Adorable! #RSDproud
Congratulations to RHS student Cesar Santoyo, who designed the district's holiday card this year. Each year, art teacher Bob Englebach works with his graphic design students to create holiday card designs. Dr. Mumin then selects the winning design to use for his holiday message to staff.
Tyson-Schoener Elementary School and the ROCC Building both held door decorating contests this week. Special thank you to Sen. Judy Schwank, Dr. Mumin and school board president Robin Costenbader-Jacobson, who helped to judge the Tyson-Schoener contest. Friday was National Ugly Sweater Day, and Tyson-Schoener staff members decided to join in the holiday fun by hosting their own Ugly Sweater Competition. "Activities like this are a good way to boost morale and have fun with each other," Principal Sepulveda said.
